Cheapest Acer Aspire One AOA150-1126 8.9-Inch Netbook - White

I have owned a 1447 Acer AOA150 for a couple months now. I am all about compact performance and Internet access from where ever, when ever.

PROs:
Performance, this device is no light weight in that area compared to devices I have used of 11" on down to this 8.9" screen. It handles the 160GB drive and XP as well as any small laptop computer I have used. In fact the ability to buy this device with XP on it with good performance was mandatory.

Who needs drive media anymore. I have a Sony VGN with a DVD writer, but I find little use for spinning drives anymore. I do have a portable DVD which I can plug into the USB port, should I have a need, but as we have dumped the 3.5 floppy drive, we will do this with the rest of the mechanical media soon.

802.11N would be nice, however my "G" network does a great job today, and the telco's haven't given us more the 20GB since they haven't figured out the Internet anyway. They still have some circuit switch devices they want to milk us consumers for, and the FCC is protecting that monopolistic practice. So with a great cable port, and up to a "G" wireless connection this device does well in traditional network environments.

Keyboard is very comfortable and usable for on the go use as well. Small, but much better then any mobile phone or tablets I have tried. Any smaller, and I would expect whiners, but right now even larger then normal hands can work this.

CONs:
Very dissatisfied that I can't plug my 3G datacard into this device. Why any company would build something called a "Netbook" and not provide all of the current networking capable solutions, doesn't make significant sense. I will have to purchase a USB 3G solution to really use this as a "Real" Netbook. Oh well some design engineer was shooting for a price point and threw out the 3G functionality, or decided to create it as an overpriced feature. Maybe they should have considered the fact that no DVD or mechanical drive could justify the $2 3G datacard slot for the true network user.

Also has no Bluetooth, whats up with that!?!?

Summary:
Oh well I like the device, but probably will continue looking for a real Netbook. Always have the early builders, and early adopters that reach for what isn't there yet.
