I ordered this laptop on a saturday, and it arrived on Monday, in time to set it up for our Tuesday trip. We were thrilled to be able to travel with such a light, small laptop. I ordered it in pink, and tons of people at all the hotels and airline security lines were intrigued with it. I want to make a bunch of suggestions.
1. As a reviewer said, the touchpad seemed to be quirky. However, once I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, it turns out to be excellent and has a bunch of features I never thought about. Personally, I prefer a mouse, and I have one that I travel with.
2. I had no trouble with the wireless, on a 3 week trip thru France, at quite a few hotels.
3. I plugged it in when necessary, no problems with the battery (did not need to use the laptop on the flight.)
4. The ms office trial version is USELESS! I did not bother to install my copy of office as the Acer came with a trial version and I did not have a lot of time during the 1 day before our trip. The trial version works fine, but then, the kicker, you cannot SAVE! I had my husband do his docs in word, but then copy and paste to wordpad. (I was not able to backup this system as I thought I had an install version of TrueImage, but I didn't, and I never download anything on any pc before backing up. Therefore I didn't install open office.)
5. the screen has great resolution
6. obviously, the keyboard is tiny, but that's that.
7. Make sure you have a usb cd/dvd burner. That's a must for the long term use, altho I never did use the one I brought with us. Prior to buying one for ourselves I recommended one to a friend, and she uses the netbook with cd reader/burner all the time for getting her music into her ipod from her cd collection. Also for recovery purposes.
