I love this computer. The screen is crisp and bright. It's very portable. The keyboard is small, but not too small. I have long fingers and can type on it pretty well. It starts up fast and shuts down almost as fast. I've only had one problem with it.
When I got it the battery was broken. I didn't notice it for a few days because I hadn't tried to use it without battery. The first time I tried to use it without the battery it wouldn't turn on. I took a look at the battery and found that the black housing over the connecting wires was broken. I emailed amazon, who responded quickly asking me to call Acer. So I called Acer.
My initial experience with Acer support was good. The guy I talked to was very responsive. He apologized for the problem and said he would send an extra powercord along with the new battery. A few days later the powercord arrived, but no battery. After another two weeks I called Acer back to see what was happening. I was told the battery was on backorder and to check again. I waited two more weeks and called back. At this point I was told that my battery order had been cancelled and they had changed their policy. Now I would have to mail the battery to their warehouse at my own expensive, or allow them to put an $80 hold on my credit card.
I most definitely could not afford an $80 hold, so I chose the second option. I really wasn't happy about it. The part was broken by no fault of mine and I didn't understand why I would have to pay to get it replaced. So, for the next few weeks I kept trying to find time to get to the post office. I work and go to school fulltime, so this isn't as easy as it seems. Then a few days ago the new battery magically showed up at the doorstep. So, in the end, Acer came through and the only cost was several weeks of inconvenience.
Now that I have the new battery I love it even more. It is so easy to whip it out anywhere and work on my homework. The battery lasts a long time, as well. I can use it all day at school without having to ever plug it in.
It's very convenient and I can't imagine not having it. I installed OneNote and use it in my lecture classes to take awesome notes that are much nicer than anything I could write by hand. I also have an optic book scanner that I used to scan all my textbooks. So, instead of carrying around 50 lbs of textbooks I just have my 2.6 lb computer. It makes a huge difference.
Despite the initial battery issue, I have to give this netbook four stars. It really is fantastic. Before I bought it I went into a couple of bricks and mortar stores to compare netbooks. When I saw how amazing the Acer screen looked compared to the other netbooks, the choice was obvious. It's a great value.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1126 8.9-Inch Netbook - White.
