I bought this netbook for the following purposes: email, websurfing, viewing photos and videos, and to serve as another backup source for all of my important digital data. It should fit the bill for all of those things. But also - it's a great little compact size, and yet with relatively large hands, I have no problems with the keyboard. It will be great for trips anywhere, including use onboard a plane with the long battery life, and it will fit in virtually any hotel room safe. Built-in multimedia card reader is a nice touch - I'll be able to load pics on the Acer directly from the SD card of my camera.
Some of the software it comes with includes Google Desktop, MS Works, Adobe reader 9, Windows movie maker, Windows media player, and trial versions of McAfee SecurityCenter and MS Office.
It has a built-in wi-fi antenna that works with 802.11b and g. You can also secure your wireless connection with WEP (not recommended), or the better WPA with TKIP encryption, or the better still WPA2 with AES encryption. Since I've set mine up with WPA2, I've yet to experience a lost connection to my access point, even though I'm using the Acer on the ground floor while my access point is on the 3rd floor of my townhouse. (but, I've only had the computer for a few days!)
Though the blue lid of the Acer shows fingerprints, that's nothing a cloth can't cure. I think it's going to be a blast to use this, everywhere! I'll definitely take it many places that I would not take my larger laptop. I also had extremely fast shipping from BuyNow Inc. using the standard shipping method.
