To begin with, a key point that was not clear from the published specs: as I say below, it WORKS as I had hoped it would with an external display.
Edited to add: while a few other reviewers had issues with wi-fi connectivity, for me it worked perfectly at numerous locations (three airports, two hotels, and several cafes) during a vacation from which my wife and I have just returned. Battery life was excellent at well over five hours; getting used to the small screen and keyboard was actually easier than I had expected.
Edited to add: in the airport food court just now a passer by saw me
using it and asked me about it. A couple others who overheard this
conversation then came to look at it. Incidentally, I think more
airports should have FREE wireless networks as Hartford-Springfield
(BDL) does...
Very cute little computer that works as expected, and it will certainly fit much more comfortably onto an airline tray table than a standard laptop. Not surprisingly given its small overall size the keyboard feels a little cramped and the display is not very large, both reasonable tradeoffs for its extreme portability. The touchpad is, as others have noted, somewhat annoying but since this thing is so small I'll have room for a decent USB trackball in my carry on bag.
At home, it has no problem running an old Envision EN7410 17-inch LCD panel (1280 x 1024 pixels) at its native resolution in multiple monitor mode with my Windows desktop extended onto this monitor. I had been uncertain whether this would work because the published specs did not clearly say so, but was glad to learn it did because I have two desired uses for this device. First of course for travel. Second as a potential replacement for an elderly desktop box that is showing signs of imminent end-of-life (the Envision LCD is normally used with this desktop box).
Performance, once again is obviously not comparable with either of my current main personal and work laptops as those have dual-core processors and this little device has a single-core CPU, but for its intended applications of web access and light document editing it appears to be entirely acceptable. And it certainly is more powerful than the failing old desktop box for which it will be the replacement when I'm not traveling.
